Each team in our school is represented by student leaders. The students are elected by the student body. We hold an annual Kāiti School Elections. The students learn about nominating themselves, campaigning and walking the talk as a leader. Every child has an opportunity to vote for their chosen leader on election day.
At the beginning of each year, each team votes in student leaders for the leadership group. This group meets regularly to work on small projects that make a difference in our school and learning community. They are consulted on school plans to ensure that student voice is considered when making decisions at Kaiti School. Some of the key learning for the team is developing an understanding about what it is that makes an effective leader along with what values and qualities a leader must model for those that they work with and lead.
