Maia Behaviour Management System

The Maia Behaviour Management System is our schoolwide framework in connecting behaviour with our tīpuna - Maia Poroaki - indigenising our positive behaviour strategies and system with a positive, culturally-relevant localised framework. 

The framework encourages our children to be metacognitive about their behaviour. We can develop metacognition in their thinking. 

We tell stories from this BMS and remind our students of the qualities of local tipuna that we seek to demonstrate in our own learning behaviours at kura.

Learning is connected @ Kaiti. Each class are very lucky this year to receive a HUE; grown by Kōkā Sandy’s whānau in Patutahi and painted by Matua Kohere. 

These taonga will be used to support our students through the school’s Maia Behaviour Management System. 

Tipuna - Maia - grew hue in his gardens in this area and we will be visited our local Puhi Kaiti Hue Sculptures in Term 1, 2023. 

We have also been learning about Te Maro’s hue - Ruatanuika!
