Ko au ko Kaiti
Learning about ourselves and our community
The topics we learn about, the songs we sing, the stories we hear of our tipuna and the activities we participate in connect us back to this area Kaiti and Turanganui a kiwa.
We loved voyaging on waka hourua in term 1, engaging in digital technologies and being like Maui in term 2 and walking the trails for Tupapa. We were lucky to celebrate in the Tuia 250 celebrations and be there when the waka hourua arrived to Te Tairawhiti.
At the recent nga manu korero speech competition for 2019, our korero was connected to all of the local topics and stories we have been learning about. We know that when we learn about ourselves, our identity, who we are and celebrate this we are most successful in our education pathways.
