Coming to School?

Please check out our prospectus if your whanau are considering our kura. We welcome school visits for prospective enrolments. If your child is four and preparing the move to school, we encourage you to enrol them in the Tiny Tiki Transition to School Programme for Four year olds.  This group meets every Thursday morning with their new kaiako at 9.30am. The session concludes at 10.30am and we drop your child back at their kindy, kohanga or child care centre.

What's next?

Please drop into the office to pick up an enrolment pack. You will need to complete this and return it with a copy of your child's birth certificate or passport.  If your child is a migrant and was not born in New Zealand, we require both your child's birth certificate and passport.

Preparing my child for Kura

At the start of each term, we welcome new whanau into our kura with a mihi whakatau. (informal welcome).  The first day is always a big one for our little ones who are just starting school. For the older students who are transitioning from another school it can be an excitinig yet nervous experience.  Your child will be well looked after and cared for by our tamariki and teachers.  One of our school values is manaakitanga (care). We follow the Tuakana -Teina pedagogy in our learning programmes and your child will return home smiling on their first day.  Older siblings often spend the first day of kura with the little ones.

IF your child is turning five, Koka Moana will be contact you to meet with her in your child's first week of school. She will share some resources with you to use at home for the first month of school to help your child learn their alphabet, basic words along with some strategies to help with their little reading books at home.
