This term our main topic focus is W.O.W- World of Wearable Arts.
Our movie that was chosen as inspiration is Shrek. We are learning about stereotyping, the traditional fairytale formats and character traits.
Each child has chosen a character that they would like to depict from the movie and their job is simple- create a piece of wearable art to show this character. It has been a busy time where all of our students have been using the higher order thinking skill of creating.
We have been learning lots of new skills- sewing, choosing materials, fabric printing and creating accessories.
The WOW show will be held in week 10 of this term. Please come along and see for yourself the hard work that the children have put into creating their piece of wearable arts.
This term our focus Key Competency is Participating and Contributing. Ask your child how they have participated and contributed in room 5.
Homework- your child receives their homework via email. If you would like them to receive a hard copy, please advise me so this can be arranged
1st- 7th September is TONGAN LANGUAGE WEEK. We are encouraging our children to share their knowledge and expertise of Tongan with others. Please support them as they do this.
We are also pleased to announce that our BOT has approved our request to take a group of children to Tonga on a cultural exchange in July 2016. If you wish for your child to take part in this trip, please fill out an expression of interest form. Selection will be made and successful applicants will be notified at the beginning of Term 4.
